Petunia x hybrida (Old-fashioned Reseeding Petunias)

These are the Petunias that people use to grow. Colors vary from white to violet. Flower colors can change during the season. Butterflies love them.. Moths love them more, because their sweet fragrance is more pronounced at night. They grow lush foliage during the cool months and start blooming in late winter. If you cut them back they will bloom for a very long time. Individual plants may not last very long but if you plant them in a well-drained sunny place without mulch, new seedlings will come up year after year. The great grandparents of our plants were growing out of cracks in the pavement of an abandoned motel lot in Allendale, SC..
