Description

3′-4′ Tall x 2′ wide Native Perennial spreads by short stolons to form tight patches. Larval host of Wavy-lined Emerald Moth. The Aromatic Foliage makes a refereshing Tea. Mountain-mints are also used medicinally, In June-August, the plants are topped with silvery bracts and white,pink and purple flower.  . Flowering June-August. The flowers attract an amazing diversity of pollinators, Native Bees, Butterflies Skippers, Beetles, Plant Bugs and Beneficial Insects such as Flies and Wasps. The diversity of wasps which pollinate Mountain Mints is truly amazing. Songbirds eat the seeds.

Hardiness Zones 5a-8b.

We propogated our plants from native populations in Beaufort Co., SC and Bibb Co., GA. Plant in sun or part shade in well drained soil. Mountain Mints are rarely bothered by deer. They make good deer baffles to interplant with tastier plants.
