Description

1 foot tall native evergreen perennial  has nice foliage year-round. It is covered by blue flowers with yellow centers in early Spring.  It is generally deer resistant. If deer bother it, interplant with Salvia coccinea, Melica mutica, Chasmanthium laxum, or Chasmanthium sessiliflorum to prevent browsing.  Plant in sun or part shade, in all but the wettest or driest soils. Clumps increase in size, it also spreads by seed. It loves prescribed fire. These are not “Lucerne” or “Suwannee” or another clone which does not set seed. We propagated our plants from native populations which were threatened by highway maintenance in Beaufort County and Jasper County, SC. They will naturalize in your garden.

New crop should be ready by March 10, 2023
