The nursery is just part of our business. We visit gardens to help people identify and manage their existing native vegetation. We plant natives and heirlooms in people’s garden. We help people take care of their gardens (from mowing, pruning, fertilizations, environmentally-responsible pest manangement, etc). We survery natural areas. We give educational programs. In short, we do whatever we can to help people live and garden in harmony with nature……So, I live by the nursery and I will show people around the nursery almost anytime I am here but…I am out a lot working on other jobs. So call ahead (843) 525-9454 or (843) 812-4845 or email us [email protected] if you want to visit.
Wheww..I am out of breath after all of that.
That being said, we are working here and are open for visitors today. If you would like to visit, give me a call at (843) 812-4845 and I will give you directions or put 48 Sherman Dr., Beaufort, SC 29907 into your GPS and drove on out. If you don’t see me call me, yell or honk your horn. I am out there somewhere
Spring has sprung.
Last fall, we rescued some Wiregrass (Aristida beyrichiana) from destruction. We tried to increase it by division in the nursery. It didn’t work too well. So, we need to plant out the survivors in the pine flatwoods that we are are restoring next to the nursery. We will burn it in a month or so. Hopefully, it will produce seed in the fall and we can offer wiregrass in 2014.
The weeds are growing in the nursery, we need to pull them. Perennials are starting to put up shoots. It is time to cut off the old stalks. Cuttings have rooted. We need to pot them up. Plants are overgrown and blowing over in the wind. We need to repot them. Trays of seedlings we planted last year have germinated. We need to pot them up. Etc. Etc. Etc. So I need to go out and take care of things outside. .
I hope to see you soon!
