Description

Lowgrowing (3/4′-1.5′ Tall), fine textured, native groundcover  makes an excellent lawn alternative. The branches root at the nodes to form extensive patches. It tolerates mowing and foot traffic. The foliage is bluish in the summer and tan in the winter.

Wildlife Value: A wide variety of insects feed on Nimblewill. These include the Short-winged Meadow Katydid, Various Aphids, Leafhoppers, Plant Bugs. Nimblewill is a larval host of a Gall Wasp, and a Moth (Elachista Brachyelytrifoliella). Song Birds, Wild Turkeys feed on the seeds. Turkeys also eat the leaves.

Companion Plant; Deer do not eat grasses. Planting Nimblewill around woodland wildflowers helps protect them from browsing. Nimblewill helps build by preventing erosion. It can be planted to replace invasive grasses like Microstegium vimineum, and Arthraxon hispidus.
