Description
1′-2′ tall native perennial produces beautiful flowers from February to July attracting butterflies and hummingbirds. We propagated our plants from native populations in my Dad (Dr. Jerry Payne and Second Mom’s (Rose Payne) property in Bibb Co., GA. There it grows in clay that is wet in winter and hot and dry in the summer. It prefers deciduous shade, and dryish soil in the summer when it goes dormant.
