Description
Native Shrub or Tree.(10′-35′ tall. It makes excellent screening with moderate pruning. Cinnamon Colored Trunks It is covered with 6′ white showy racemes from May to July. It attracts bees and makes an excellent honey. Birds and small mammals feed on the dry fruit., Leaves turn red in fall and drop right before new leaves appear in Spring. Furthern South, the trees remain evergreen. Prefers moist acidic soil and sun to part shade. Native to USA: AL , DE , FL , GA , LA , MS , NC , SC , TX , VA south to Caribbean and Northern South America. We propagated our plants from native populations in Beaufort and Hampton Cos.,SC.
