Description

1′-3′ Native perennial blooms from July to October attracting hummingbirds and butterflies. It is the larval host of the Texan Crescent Butterfly.
Native to moist shady areas in AL, AR, FL, GA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MO, MS, NC, OK, SC, TN, TX, and VA. It is relatively rare locally (I have only two native populations in my life. One was in Screven Co, GA the other in Allendale Co., SC.  We propagated our plants from those two populations in 2015. It has now naturalized the moist shady areas of the nursery.  This makes me happy. Plant in sun/ part shade in moist to wet soil.
