Description

Rare Evergreen Perennial

1′ linear  leaves (shorter in winter)  2′-3′ tall clusters of blue fuzzy flower heads.

Flowers attract Butterflies, Moths, Skippers, Long-tongued Bees, Short-tongued Bees, Plant Bugs, Beetles and Beneficial Insects such as Wasps and Flies.

Eryngium sps are  larval hosts of Black Swallowtail Butterflies. sole larval host of the rare Rattlesnake Borer Moth,

Native From SC to FL.

Was Beleived to Be Extirpated from SC until Dr. Patrick McMillan discovered new native population in Charleston Co. in 2000’s. We propagated our plants from material he shared with us many years ago.

Plant in full sun to part shade in average to wet circumneutral soil.
