Description

Native Shrub or Small Tree (up to 30′ tall) Makes a great alternative to Invasive Exotic Privets.  Evergreen to Almost Evergreen  (the leaves fall off in late winter just before flowers open. Yellow Flowers from Late Winter to Early Spring AttractsBees and Butterflies.  Bluish Black Fruits are eaten by Birds and Small Mammals. Full Sun to Part Shade. Thrives in dry, high calcium soils. Tolerates salt wind and some salt water. Male and Female Flowers are Borne on Separate Plants. Plant Multiples to increase chance of fruiting.

Known as Inkbush in Virgin Islands

South Carolina, Georgia,Florida,Bermuda and the West Indies.

In Nature grows from Zone 8b-11.
