Description
Up to 6′ tall well branched Native Perennial produces 3″ long pink and burgundy flowers which are pollinated by Hummingbirds, Butterflies, Bumble Bees, Hibiscus Bees and Morning-glory Turret Bees. It is a larval host of several Butterflies: Gray Hairstreak, Painted Lady, and Checkered Skipper and Moths: Pearly Wood Nymph, Yellow Scallop Moth, IO MOth, and Delightful Bird-dropping Moth. The Caterpillars and Seeds provide Food for Songbirds. Prefers Sun and Average to Wet Soil. Native to AL, AR, DC, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MD, MI, MN, MO, MS, NC, NE, NY, OH, OK, PA, SC, TN, TX, VA, WI, and WV. We propagated our plants from Native Populations in Effingham Co., GA, Colleton Co., SC and Dorchester Co., SC.
