Description

This native evergreen plants thrives in wet soil or in water. It is a member of the carrot family. It probably serves as a larval host for the Black Swallowtail Butterfly. It is rare in SC. We propagated our plants from a native population in Beaufort Co., SC which Bruce Lampright, naturalist at Brays Island, showed us It was growing along the edge of ponds as well as in moist drainage swales showed us.
