Description
1″-3″ tall mat-forming native “wintergreen” perennial blooms in Spring and again in the Fall attracting numerous species of Native Bees, Small Butterflies, Skippers and Bee Flies. Many birds feed on the seeds. Leaves and flowers are deliciously sour. Perfect for planting along woodland paths where their delicate beauty can be enjoyed up close. Native to most of the USA AL, AR, AZ, CO, CT, DC, DE, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD, MI, MN, MO, MS, NC, MC, NE, NJ, NM, NY, OH, OK OR, PA, RI, SC, SC, TN, TX, VA, VT, WI, WV, & WY. They are rare along the coast. We propagated our plants from native populations in Bibb Co., GA, Beaufort Co, SC, and Jasper Co., SC.. Plant where they receive average moisture and sun or part shade in winter. Other Oxalis sps. are generally deer-resistant.
