Many years ago, a fellow nurseryman and native plant lover, Michael Jenkins told me about the South Carolina Native Plant Society. At that time, the closest chapter met two hours away but I went on all the field trips that I could. It was a wonderful opportunity to meet like minded people, visit beautiful places and learn more about our state’s botanical treasures. In 2008, Gail Clark organized the South Coast Chapter based here in Beaufort County. I immediately joined, and have helped for years by leading field trips, giving talks, and serving on the board. I also volunteered to host special events at the nursery when 10% of all proceeds will be donated to the chapter. It is one of the main fundraisers for the chapter. Our next sale is Saturday April 8, 2015 9-12 and 1-4. Please come out and support the SCNPS South Coast Chapter.. and help us continue our work, propagating native and heirloom plants from local sources.
We appreciate all the chapter members…and chapter friends who have come out in years past to help by playing music, sharing refreshments, helping newbies learn about native plants and by sharing stories and laughs. During the sale, I am so busy answering questions and helping people find plants.. that I can’t find time to thank everyone individually, so I am thanking all of you who come out this Saturday in advance.
We have added several species to our inventory in the last year. I guarantee you that you will find plants here that you cannot find for sale any where else. Except for special orders, I never release anything for sale that I have not propagated and grown here in the nursery. Describe your conditions, and I can show you plants that will thrive in your garden.
